ICRC Documents 7,000 Missing in Conflict Crisis

November 18, 2025 (TAWILA) – The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) announced on Tuesday that it has documented almost 7,000 individuals who have gone missing since the conflict in Sudan began.

The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) have detained thousands of individuals; some were freed following the payment of ransoms, whereas others perished from starvation and insufficient medical care in detention facilities. The situation of most remains unclear.

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) mentioned in a report released on October 29 that 98% of households in Tawila do not have essential sleeping items like blankets, mattresses, and mosquito nets. The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) noted that families are compelled to sleep outdoors, raising the likelihood of women and girls facing violence, exploitation, and abuse.

The IOM stated that 86% of the displaced individuals in Tawila experience inadequate food intake, while 30% of children under five are underweight or not developing properly.
