Rep. Kim Dae-sik Addresses Party Leader's Comments on Election Fraud
Rep. Kim Dae-sik, head of the People Power Party leader’s special advisory team, expressed concerns over recent remarks made by the party leader regarding "election fraud." On the 18th, he stated that such language was inappropriate and emphasized the need for caution in how the party leader communicates.
During a radio appearance on CBS Radio, Rep. Kim clarified his position, stating, "I absolutely do not acknowledge or tolerate election fraud." His comments aimed to reinforce the party's stance on maintaining the integrity of the electoral process.
Criticism of the Term 'Election Fraud'
Rep. Kim also addressed the ballot paper shortage incident that occurred during the June 3 local elections. He questioned how voting rights could be compromised due to a lack of ballots in South Korea. "The term 'election fraud' should not be used carelessly," he said, adding that the situation was more accurately described as a poorly managed election.
He further explained that using the term "election fraud" could mislead the public and damage the party's credibility. "Even if it was a personal action, all citizens perceive him as the party leader," he noted, highlighting the importance of the leader's actions and words being scrutinized by the public.
Public Perception and Leadership Responsibility
Rep
"The party leader must exercise caution in every word and action, deeply considering how they will be perceived by the public," Rep. Kim added. He stressed the need for the leader to act with responsibility and awareness of their influence on the party's image.
Internal Party Dynamics
Regarding Leader Jang’s position within the party, Rep. Kim mentioned that during a recent general meeting, senior members largely remained silent. However, he noted that both Alternative and Future and many lawmakers voiced calls for resignation. Despite this, he acknowledged that if Leader Jang insists on serving his full term, there is no alternative.
