Video surveillance has shown the final moments of Anthony Olwal, a delivery cyclist who was killed on Tuesday, November 18, in South B Estate, Nairobi.
Olwal went to deliver a cell phone to a customer at Meridian Court in the early hours of the critical day.
In the video, Olwal is shown arriving at the building’s entrance around 11:50am and is led to the house where the delivery was scheduled. He appeared to be talking to the client as he waited.
Later, in the afternoon, his body was discovered under a bed on the fourth floor.
A suspect was seen exiting with a brown bag, his head concealed, at 12:02 pm. Another suspect was trailing closely, as if checking if anyone was watching.
A worker briefly went to the suspects just before they left with the bags. The supervisor discovered Olwal’s death on the fourth floor after one suspect handed over the bag and left.
As per eyewitness accounts, the suspects had booked the studio apartment for a short period but hadn’t settled the payment, leaving the bag containing the high-value mobile phone behind before fleeing.
A person, stating they are located in Eldoret, directed Olwal to hand over an iPhone Pro Max device to their “brother” in South B, as per a WhatsApp message.
A autopsy report indicated that he passed away due to severe head injury caused by blunt force.
Olwal’s mouth was securely covered with a leso, and his arms and legs were tied with rope.
Law enforcement discovered a mobile device, a blade, and a metallic item at the location.
Two individuals had booked the studio and purchased the KSh 220,000 phone, as stated by Makadara Sub-County Commander Judith Nyongesa.

President William Ruto stated that Kenyans will not need to pay additional taxes or take on more debt to fund the KSh 5 trillion large-scale initiatives the government has outlined to transform the country into a world-class nation.
In his address to the nation in Parliament on Thursday, the president revealed the creation of a National Infrastructure Fund and a Sovereign Wealth Fund.
He stated that these resources will provide creative financing for the initiatives.
Ruto stated that his government has pinpointed important projects that he thinks will alter Kenya’s path of growth.
These involve creating irrigation dams, building over 30,000 kilometers of roads, focusing on human resource development, and launching energy initiatives that will increase the national grid by 10,000 megawatts.

In their evaluation of Ruto’s State of the Nation Address, the Opposition claimed he evaded public anger, dismissed the concerns of Generation Z, and offered empty pledges.
Ruto ignored the Opposition’s criticisms and commended his administration for implementing major changes.
Nevertheless, the Opposition characterized the young people who gathered in the streets and online in 2024 and this year as a generation motivated by a moral revolt against corruption, financial struggles, and political immunity.
This was included in a statement made by Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka.

Kenyan Members of Parliament (MPs) have raised concerns about the ongoing operation of the Hustler Fund following an audit revealing that more than KSh 12.6 billion in loans might have been lost.
Members of the Special Finances Committee stated that the money was sent to fake accounts because certain borrowers possessed several SIM cards, which they disposed of after getting the funds.
Lawmakers met with Henry Tanui, the chief executive of Hustler Fund, to address audit-related inquiries, as mentioned by Auditor General Nancy Gathungu.
Tanui acknowledged that only KSh 4.4 billion of the KSh 14 billion provided to the Fund by the National Treasury was in circulation.

At least 25 new political groups have been provisionally registered in recent months, with over 30 additional ones having submitted their applications in preparation for the 2027 General Election.
The report highlighted that the efforts to register new political parties reflect increasing anxiety within the political scene, especially considering the primaries in different regions where candidates have often been unsuccessful in winning elections.
The Financial Support for Political Groups is distributing funds to parties that were not allocated money in the previous elections.
This comes after the implementation of the Political Parties Act of 2022.
